Role Description:
Our client is a leading provider of Total Facilities Management solutions, delivering high-quality Soft and Hard FM services across both the private and public sectors. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to lead the business development strategy, drive sales, and manage tender processes across the UK Group of companies.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking FM company where your ideas and leadership will directly shape growth. You’ll have the autonomy to lead the department and the support of an experienced senior leadership team.
You will be responsible for driving the growth of new and existing business with a strong focus on Soft FM services. Reporting directly to the Commercial and Managing Directors, you will lead the Business Development Department and play a pivotal role in securing new contracts, managing client relationships, and developing strategic bids.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement business development strategies
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, particularly within Soft FM, while supporting Hard FM where applicable
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients
Lead the tender and bid process, including writing technical proposals and preparing commercial documentation
Coordinate internal departments during tender submissions and contract mobilisation
Represent the company in networking events, client meetings, and bid presentations (in-person and virtual)
Negotiate contract terms and close new business deals
Provide clear reporting on sales targets, pipeline activity, and business development performance
Ensure a smooth handover from business development to operations for newly awarded contracts.
What They are Looking For:
Proven track record in business development, preferably within the FM industry
Strong knowledge of Soft FM services with an understanding of Hard FM beneficial
Experience in bid writing and commercial proposal development
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under pressure
A collaborative leader who can manage a team and work cross-functionally
Understanding of technical aspects of FM and the ability to support operations during mobilisation
A detail-oriented individual with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience in cost analysis, risk mitigation, and client onboarding.
Additional Requirements:
Weekly reporting on sales performance and pipeline to the Commercial Director
Attendance at internal meetings, training sessions, and industry seminars
Support with upselling and cross-selling across the company’s existing client portfolio.
